Fuel PSI GAUGE
Fuel PSI GAUGE
I am a new diesel owner. I would really like to add a gauge pod but I am unsure exactly how the fuel pressure gauge installs and works. Do you have to run fuel into the cab? Any body have any pictures of what it looks like? Thanks
There are multiple threads going on about this right now. Here's one of them: https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...678#post647678
The basic answer is that isolators seem to get shaken apart on these trucks, so, yes, a lot of people connect a needle valve and run the fuel into the cab. And really, diesel isn't terribly explosive or even that easy to light if you try, so it doesn't seem all that dangerous to do so. That's my $0.02 worth, anyway.

Yet one more option is to use an electrical gauge. I have been using an SPA electric gauge the sender has been there for over 140k without one hickup. Seems the VP44 pulsations beat the heck out of sendes over time. So a needle valve can be used inline with the sender. Just close the needle valve as much as possible and still get a reading. It helps cut down on the pulsations beating on the sender.
As soon as I get the needle valve I will post pictures of what is needed and part numbers for the different things...
The needle vlave being the mystery for everyone. Where to find it... NAPA has them... I'm going to pick mine up today 4/22/05...
