Fuel pressure testing
Fuel pressure testing
Being that I am not familiar with most of the tools used for DIY jobs, I'm wondering if someone could provide me a link to the gauge used to test fuel pressure at the fuel filter housing. I don't even know the proper name!
TIA!
TIA!
A mechanical fuel pressure guage threaded into one of the ports in the top of the filter housing (on the '98s and '99s only) will give you a good fuel pressure reading.

This is my setup and monitors After-Filter pressure to the Injection pump.
A full time gauge is a MUST on the VP44 equipped trucks.
It's a NPT thread, so use a teflon thread-sealing paste and be careful how deep you crank it in.
It's pretty easy to crack the filter housing and getting real hard to find a replacement.
Any gauge that will top out at around 30 psi will do.
You're only looking for 12 - 15 psi with a totally stock setup...."high performance" pumps maybe 20 psi or so.

You want this or make your own.
