Fuel pressure question

Recently I had my lift pump and VP44 replaced under warrantee. At first the fuel pressure was steady at 8psi and could stay at 6 at WOT. Now it is cooler, and at WOT the press drops to 2psi. Changed fuel filter, and it still is low at WOT. Am thinking of replaceing existing banjo bolts with strait high flow fittings and lines. Has any one installed a pusher ahead of the in tank fuel pump, and has it worked??? (Still have 8k on factory warantee). Thanks, "Ironbutt"

So is it safe to assume that you have the "new" in tank kit? or are you just assuming?

If it is still the engine mounted pump you can add a second one on the frame rail, or put a holley "blue" on the frame rail. There are a lot of people who do this.

If you do have the "in tank" I cannot comment.

If you really want to fix your problems get rid of the stock lp. They aren't reliable, except to fail at some point. If you want a sure fix go with the FASS, or a holley blue. I have heard of the holley blues failing also though. The FASS is the best way to go IMHO, but that is just me.

You might have gotten a bad pump out of the box. 8 PSI is too low at idle.

I had the in-tank pump installed under warranty on my truck about a month and a half ago. My pressure after that was about 6 at idle and cruising 3-4. So yesterday I custom made a harness to run my in-tank pump and the regular LP that mounts to the engine....i hooked it all up, and after a few starting issues I got it running....my pressure guage only goes to 16psi and that is what it shows...all the time! So i know it has to be above 16 psi, but i dont know how high above. I have not had any problems with this setup so far (other than getting it to run reliably yesterday) and it has not drop below 16....even a WOT. I am satified w/that setup so far, but i do regret getting the in-tank pump. I would rather have a pump that i can change easily.
Is there a certain point where the pre-VP fuel pressure is too high?

I believe 20 PSI is generally accepted as the limit.
