fuel pressure gauge needle wobble
Hey all -- a few times last week I noticed that the needle on my fuel pressure gauge (Westach with sender, isolated shock mount) was wobbling back and forth about a half-pound of pressure -- 15-16 lbs. pressure at idle -- and only at idle. The wobble was not regular, and happened perhaps 2-3 times a minute. Accelerating or restarting the engine would end it, but it would come back a day or two later.
Haven't noticed this before. Anything to be concerned about? (Ya, somebody's gonna tell me my lift pump's going out at 5500 miles, right? > : :'( )
Thanks!

Re:fuel pressure gauge needle wobble
Gear Poet,

I've got the same gauge, set up the same way. Mine gets the wobblies sometimes, too. I changed the sender, because I thought that was the problem. But it still wobbles now and then. With 15-16 psi at idle, I don't think that you have to worry about your lift pump yet. I'm wondering if maybe some of the fuel drains out of the hose while it's sitting so that the pressure fluctuates until the hose gets filled up again? Just a thought. My isolation hose runs verticle for about six inches, and then curves to horizontal for another six inches or so, where it attaches to the sender. I'm not really offering any solutions as much as I'm letting you know that I am experiencing a similar problem. Hope somebody out there has cured this and will let us know.

DeWain
