Fuel Pressure Gauge?

From my reading it seems that installation of a fuel pressure gauge is about as important as as an EGT gauge.

Are their any good, long-life expectancy electric FP gauges out there? Or is a mechanical FP gauge the way to go?

I'm somewhat nervous about the idea of running a mechanical FP gauge into the cab.

Also, I keep hearing EGT, FP & Boost gauges. Is boost absolutely necessary?? I'm not thinking it's as necessary as EGT & FP. Don't reall want more that 2 gauges on the pillar anyway.

I'm going with a double deep tranny pan and synthetic ATF, so I don't think transmission temperature gauge is really necessary. My tranny temps should stay in-line with the addition of an extra 4 quarts of ATF and running synthetic.

Re:Fuel Pressure Gauge?

Bull Dog the Elect F.P. gauges seem to work and hold up fine, I have a Digital Nordskog that I put in below the ash tray as I had 3 gauges on the pod allready. Cost for the whole thing including mt was under a hundred bucks.
The boost is not as important as the Egt or F.P. gauge IMO, but you will want it eventually so I would go for it now.
The Trans gauge is good to have if you tow.

Big Blue,
Isn't the digital guage nice!!!
Do you have an EGT or a Boost from Dakota Digital? I was wondering how they were to install and if so how long of a line did you get for the EGT? Why do you think the psi reads low? Is it something related to the DD sender or something else.

Re:Fuel Pressure Gauge?

hello
We have the Westtech fuel pressure gauge in our trucks. We bought them from Genosgarage.com I used a 18 inch grease gun hose and mounted the sending unit under the brake master cylinder on a piece of Alummin strap about 6 inches long. I have been using this for well over a year now with no problems.

Hope this helps
See Ya
Chris

Thanks for all the great input. I've got a set of Westach's and A-Pillar mount ordered from Genos.

Hello again

When I went to install my banjo bolts from Geno's I had to clean up the threads with a small triangle file (8 inch). Some of the ones I had would not start very well. I did not want to mess up the filter or pumps that they screw into witch are Alum.

See Ya
Chris

Re:Fuel Pressure Gauge?

That has actually been a very common issue with the Banjos from Geno's.
They stated that the coating has something to do with the problem. ???
Rod's banjos from Wildcat Diesel Performance hit the market a week after I recieved and installed mine from Geno's. :
NO ISSUES with Rod's stuff. ;D
Of course I would never expect to have an issue with anything Rod sells. He's too picky about what he carries.
Excellent customer service. 8)

Re:Fuel Pressure Gauge?

I'm using an Isspro mechanical guage and with a stock lift pump I see a solid 15 psi at idle.
Others are running aftermarket pumps and pushing 20 psi or more. It will depend on your future BOMBing plans.
(the jury is still out about pressures that high feeding the VP injection pump.)

Re:Fuel Pressure Gauge?

Sweet Isspro makes a fuel Gauge? I had the EV series in the PSD and wanted them again but couldn't find a fuel that looked the same. Where can I get one?
Chase
