fuel mileage loss after chiped
ok ok first off i know your going to say yes you will lose milage cause im stepping on the go peddel too much...but heres the thing..i was getting 22mpg on my 2000 dodge dually with 33s , its a auto with intake and exaust..then i put the edge comp in (not tapped) and now im getting 14-15mpg highway when im taking it easy (level2) the tranny has been serviced and bands adjusted, fuel filter done??
Part 2- heres the next question..since the comp box is timing and fuel, boost, i have to be at higher rpm to ge the more fuel i need since its not tapped, so would i get better mileage if i tapped it since i would be getting more fuel at a lower rpm?? thanks

I'm no expert but I would think you would get the same or less mileage from tapping. I believe the fuel savings comes primarily from the timing advancement. My mileage has dropped on my truck and I suspect only 2 things right now; VP44 and tranny. There are other sensors to check and make sure are clean but I have never done that.
It seems odd that you lost 6mpg running the Juice. When I put my Comp on and ran it on level 1, I actually saw almost 1 mpg improvement once the thrill of the extra power wore off. It seems to me there is another issue going on for you to see that much of a loss in mpg. Just my $.02

On my 01 auto best I have ever seen is 16 empty w/comp tapped 4x5,15 before and hand calculated .Dads 99 dually stick has seen 21 w/comp tapped on 4x5 and 18 before and hand calculated. The stick trucks always do better from my experiance. I had a 90 12v stick that would get 18 around town ,21 on the high way with no mods! I was sick when I got my 01 and could only get 15 but have come to enjoy the the ease of HP add ons and over all performance. Now tap that thing and get ready to be happy!!

If you haven't tapped the wire you are basically using the Comp as an EZ to get it's full benefits you need to tap the wire, you are only getting the timing and the boost portions with out the tap.
ah, losing the prime in the fuel line when changing the fuel filter could have triggered the beginning of you losing your vp. yes, it sounds odd, yet i have seen it done before.
first things first. Get your codes pulled. but even if you dont get the 0216 or 1688 dosnt mean your pump isnt going. i have seen dead vps with no codes thrown. On several occasions ive seen trucks gradually lose power and fuel economy because of a weak vp...

I'm with you blackdiesel. My truck lost power and starting speed and mileage so slowly I never noticed especially since it was winter and I expected it. I was down about 4-5 mpg when it just quit with no warning.
After installing the new VP44 it was like a $1100 Smarty.
All the good things everyone says about them.

i pulled p0237 and its turbo/super boost sensor A circuit low input???? what does that mean?? i dont know what my fuel pressure is i havent got gauges yet...also what did you mean about the fuel filter?? did you mean when i changed it and it primed it after it could have started the vp to get weak?
0237 usually makes the truck run like doodoo. It is possible that is what is causing the problem.
From what I know there are 2 things that could be the problem.
1.) You tapped the wrong fuse for your power wire and when you shut the vehicle off the signal from the comp to the ECM dies before it should and it thinks at idle you have a problem. It is all fine until you restart the truck and then it throws the code.
2.) Something is wrong with the MAP circuit. Get it fixed by Edge.
I can understand not getting a mileage gain with EZ type power but, I have never heard of anyone loosing mileage with a timing mod like that on any brand of module. They are all really similar in that regard as the limits of the data bus hold everyone to the same tuning.
