A stock 7.3 wants to race just turn the juice up and let the smoke roll. You should beat him no prob.

Whats the output on those 7.3s anyways?

You should be fine... especially with the 6 spd.

If you want to make it fair, remove your edge, and block off at least two of your injectors. Then, leave the park brake on, and only start off in 4th.

That should give him just enough of an advantage, to take you off the line. Then, you can still kick his butt.

Seriously, I have two 01's, they are in my sig. The dodge has 3.55's taller tires, and a 5 speed. The ford has 4.88's stock tires, and a 6 speed. Right now, rigged out, they are within 150 lbs on the scales. The dodge will pull the ford right off its axles. It is pathetic.

Oh well, have to put a cummins in the ford at some point.

have fun with this

I'd think if he has some performance adders and an automatic trans, he could give you a race.....at least off the line. Most of them you'll be able to roll the coal on by him after you get in a higher gear.

While the 7.3 its a great engine, probably the slowest stock diesel engine made in the last 15 years

you're kidding

You will have him off the line. the turbo lag is huge on the 7.3's... Then you will still kill him through the whole race. Going to the comment on the 7.3's being the slowest engine built in the last 15 years... i agree partially but the GM diesels take the cake in the category.

I have a 97 f-350 7.3 with a built auto running big 38s re-geared to 4.56 and a super chips programmer, intake, and exhaust. And without a doubt my 02' CTD with 3.55s running a little larger tires and a drag comp everything else bone stock would kill that truck all while shifting a 6spd. especially once you get to 4-5-6. Second and third are a little close to be racing with. Anyone want a big ford with a custom american flag paint job on it? Its for sale. No worries if he isn't BSing you on what he has done to it I would bet money or even easy lunch on it.

The old 6.2 NA motor and the 6.5 turbo were both slower than the 7.3's but I would still take either of them over the ford
