flipping a NP241??

Hey guys, im in the process of putting a nv5600 in my truck, but since i have an auto trans i cant use the np205 due to different slines and such..... so i was wondering if i could use the np241 on the 6spd and rotate the tcase since my truck is a 92 my axle has the passenger side diff.... is it okay to flip the tcase 180*? thanks

I don't have any experience with this, but since no one else has chimed in yet, I will give my two cents.
My uneducated guess would be a no. Don't the 241's have an oil pump in them? I would imagine that you can't flip it upside down due to oil starvation. Have you looked into taking the 205 apart and getting the correct splined shaft for it? Maybe someone like Advance Adapters has an answer.
Good luck, and happy thanksgiving.

I think it you try to flip the 241 you'll run into oil starvation issues due to the oil pump.

yeah, but i talked to another fella on here and found he did it and he just ran an external oil pickup line to the bottom of the tcase.

If you address the oil pump pickup location, it is possible to run one upside down. We installed a NV273 out of a super duty into an '89 W350 with a getrag. Lacking the equipment to weld aluminum, we had a guy weld a piece of aluminum to the raised surface where the number tag was located, and then drilled and tapped it for a fitting, and used this port to run an oil line up to the top, where the oil pump is now located. We then drilled thru the case and attached our oil line to the factory pump in the transfer case. All in all it really wasn't that bad, considering we had to completely disassemble the t-case to change the input gear anyhow (it was out of an automatic super duty).

Granted this was all done on our puller, but it does see some highway use as well and has worked well so far...

the cheapest is to just swap input shafts i would think.chevy is 10-27-or 32 spline what is dodge?
run a chevy 208/241 with the input from the dodge np241 you have.

all the np 208/241 t cases share the same planataries.
i put a s10 np231 input shaft into a 91 suburban np 241 with the 32 spline outputs.That way i could run a pass side diff in a S10 with a solid axle swap.

you CAN NOT FLIP IT the rotary oil pump is designed with a dip tube/filter on it do run a certain way EDIT if you attach line to pump i could see it working but way harder than the input swap

Do you have the connector collar between the output shaft of the transmission and the input shaft of the transfer case? It's hard to explain, but it's just splined inside and slips on both shafts to connect them. If you do, count your splines on the transfer case input. I know of a place where you can get a splined connector and have it machined to work with the seal of the NV5600. That's what I did when I put the NV5600 in my '93.
