See answer above from Cumminsdriver635.

Getting the upgrades for x-mas won't hurt your truck without gauges ...... installing them without gauges might! DO THE GAUGES FIRST! At least the EGT. Gives you a base line from which to judge the changes after adding power.

as far as I know the 12V doesnt need a FP gauge so the other 3 would be my choice.

Is this due to the fact that the lift pump is alot more reliable or what?

thanks,

Im just saying you better have the money for a tranny when you start modding your truck or you will be in the position that I am in.

If only a plate doesnt hurt a tranny I would like to know why mine failed then?

How do you drive your truck? The only time i really let mine rip is when i'm pulling an enclosed trailer with my sand toys in it, which might be once a month. 99% of my miles are commuting to work, and highway back to Texas from OKC.

I will get a tranny when i need one, but i figure if i stay off the throttle, it will be awhile!

C'mon guys....WHAT ABOUT THE GAUGES?

I like Autometer Ultra lites. (in gallery) http://genosgarage.com/ has everything. I believe it was around $300 for my pyro, boost, tranny temp and the pod.

I dont pull anything with it or very rarely. Around town mostly.
j/c how many miles are on the transmission?

The only mod you listed that would have any effect on on longevity is the AFE filter. I'd suggest a different course of action here. First, because a drop-in filter is known to leak around the edges. Second, because an oiled-gauze design compromises filtration to quite an extent.

Look at a BHAF or equivalent to keep your filtration.

Besides, with JUST a plate, your air needs won't be that severe.

I only have 60k on my truck....all highway, very little towing, and no hot rodding...

I have had no problems with my K&N, and no oil on turbo blades, etc but many will tell you that they are junk. I DO like AFE better, but i think the K&N's are fine as long as you dont see dust/dirt ont he turbo blades. I would be running a BHAF which filters great if I didnt like the turbo sound so good As far as gauges; all you need is EGT, Boost, and Tranny Temp. I didnt have my tranny temp for a while, and i am really glad io have it now. It helps me know how to adjust my driving to keep it cooler when pulling loads. Of course if the only loads you pull arent bad heavy, and are out on the highway, I dont see this gauge as nesecarry, but i wouldnt want to be without mine now since i pull a decent bit in the summer. You dont need a fuel pressure on a 12v because the lift pumps for the most part are very reliable, AND it wont cause your injection pump to go out if it does go bad, as it will on a 24 valve. So EGT, and Boost are all you need, but tranny temp is also nice to have. I have an autometer tranny temp(mounted in floor in front of t-case shifter), and Isspro pyro and boost on the A-Pillar, and i personally prefer the Isspro's over my autometer. I like them both fine; i just think the isspros have a better quality look to them. I have pictures of them in my gallery. Good luck!

Eric
