Finally got to play with new Mods

I made a run from north central Calif. to the middle of Oregon. A 525 mile trip. Got to check out new AFE stage 2 and 4" exhaust. What a fun trip. Truck just wants to run,I got to do a little mashing on steep grades and it flat flys. Will throw you back in seat at 70 mph. I drove at 73 mph most of time and got behind some highballers pushing 80 to 85 for 45 min. and still averaged 21.97 mpg at end of trip, taken off the odometer. Overhead said I was getting 22 to 23 mpg at 73 mph. I installed AFE intake Friday before I left and it made to much noise, so I took a piece of aluminum sheet metal and filled in the opening between the top on intake and fender leaving a 2" gap at back of box for air from hole near hood hinge area to enter. It quieted it down nicely. Sound before was good but I'm older than 20 and didn't need it. It cooled down egt's a lot not sure how much because out side air was 50 deg. Climbing steep grades it never got above 700 deg, thats taken after tubo. The strange thing I found was I got better mpg mileage at 73 mph than 70. Motor runs more efficient at that speed I guess. Can't wait to go back. Just to fun to drive.
