FASS II Prefilter.........
FASS II Prefilter.........
I've had my FassII for about 5000 miles now. For a while I've had a suspicion that the inline filter/strainer before the pump was getting clogged. The pump would sound different at times and sometimes like it was cavitating which you could feel by putting your hand on the pump.
The original filter was pulled off and you could hardly blow through it. A little clogged. Put a new one on and the pump sounds like it did when new. Nice and steady.
The only signs I had that the filter was clogged were the changing sounds of the pump and a gut feeling.
Quick and easy to check, just thought I would pass this on to you guys that have this.
Napa replacement # is 3270. I'll double check when I get home.

Please do post the number after you check it. Mine doesn't have that many miles, but I've been thinking about taking it off and checking it, and would like to have a spare handy.
I'm a "spare" fanatic: spare lift pump, spare brushes for the FASS II, spare......

I to like spare whatevers.
I have a NAPA filter for my FASS under the rear seat, it was kinda confusing because the filter cross referance guide that came with the FASS gave Hydraulic filter #'s...??? So I double/tripple checked the #'s on there site and still the same #'s. My thoughts were they were not able to get a fuel filter to flow the correct GPH required to maintain flow and pressure. What ever the reason it's a hydraulic filter. I was unalbe to come up with a water seperator that was the same size, they were all little stubby things. Could only find a fuel filter so if you have the water seperator # that would be great.
