Question FASS/FASS II Protective Shield/Cover

I've got a question. So, right were the FASS system sits is right inside of the fenderwell a couple of feet from the tire. Has anyone had any issues/problems with the FASS pump getting soaked/saturated/covered with mud/dirt/grimme? It seems to me that this would be a problem. I'm thinking about constructing a plastic/aluminum shield today to protect it. Any thoughts anyone?

It seems like a good idea to me, I am planning on making a guard to protect it as soon as I get it, I’m mainly concerned about rocks, chunks of ice, mud, heavy road splash etc. hitting it or the wiring, I'm thinking I can do it with a piece of heavy aluminum angle

I've run mine for 20456 miles now over 18 months with nothing bad to report. The stone chips in the filter paint is now rusting from winter, but that's as easy as a new filter. Which reminds me.... I need to pickup the ones I ordered a while back.
