I am not spending money on a turbo I do not need. A vp44 truck can't fuel enough to "need" an A5K when the silver bullet keeps me under 1600 and spools great. I can still drive and tow with my set-up now, the silver bullet works great, and will be even better when I fix all the little stuff thats wrong with the truck.

I would try more one dyno test between both injectors. Take out the smarty program, run the TST on kill. The smarty is sensitive to throttle position, expectly on #9 setting. It might be hurting you top end power. You set-up isn't building boost fast enough and its killing abit of your bottom end power/torque. It will difficult to find the sweet spot to get the best #'s. I might be off base on the difference between the smarty in and out, but I find that daily driving my truck. I see that it sometimes it will pull harder if you wiggle the throttle into the sweet spot. You can't do that on a dyno. IMO

Nice comparison on the injectors!

Yes and no. Keep in mind that the "expansion pressure" boost increase will go away once it goes past the intercooler, and the temp drops. As you know, when temp drops, pressure does too, ceteris paribus.

So it depends on where boost is being measured. If he's measuring in the intake or the head like most are, then the "expansion pressure" factor doesn't really creep in until you've far exceeded your intercooler's capacity.

i may be able to get better numbers, but honestly i kind of like seeing my numbers peaking where they do because thats where i need the power when hooked to a sled. if i was a drag racer looking for more area under the curve for better acceleration thru the gears/rpm band then i would worry more about optimizing my set-up to spool sooner and make more power down low.

Does your smoke start clearing up at 55psi? Mine I have to get into the 60's as I'm at 3500 ft of elevation. The highest #'s I've seen are with the DDP sticks. I pegged my 80psi gauge. What size DDP sticks did you get? I have a set of 62 litre per minute. They are too big for my stock VP. I have a hot rod pump sitting on my bench, hopefully that fixes that issue. The DDP sticks make my truck sound like an old muscle car with the loopy idle. Do you get the same idle with yours. With the mach's sticks I'm in the low 70's for boost. Both peg my 1500 deg's pyro. I did my dyno run running just the edge drag box, the truck stalls after a wot dyno pull. My comp box, I don't have that issue, a little less power but you don't have to put the truck into idle at 120mph and floor it.

i really dont know what psi it starts cleaning up. my DDP's are the 62lpm's also, and I run a HRVP44, no rough idle for me with the pump and sticks tho, even when i put bigger crossover tubes in it the idle didnt change, but bigger tubes netted me 8hp/25tq

also at 55psi I can only get to about 1450* blasting down the road with everything set to kill. i turned the boost down to 42psi since i was floating the valves and it will leave a slight haze at WOT now, and the temps will go past 1500*

Great thread guys, I know I'm not in the same game that you guys are playing in but I'd like to go bigger with my injectors and I'm wanting to get the most that I can and do it once. My IP is the original at 152,000 miles on it and the pump wire has been tapped since around 60,000mi so I know it's just a matter of time before I replace it but I would like to go with a injector that's around 175hp (maybe mach 4.5 if possible?)do it now and when the pump finally goes put in a S.O. if possible. What do you guys IYHO think can I get 4.5's and will I be alright running them between now and when the pump croaks or will I be way beyond my VP's potential and turbo's ability right now?? Thanks

Now that you have your new turbo, I'd say 4.5s would be totally doable.

*Gasp* and I thought they didn't make any power and idle would get rough??!?
What size are you using?

Are those tubes custom made or modified stockers?

Running the big sticks did your truck stall after a wot pull? You said that you never got the funny sounding idle running the ddp's? My smoke doesn't clear until the 60 psi mark. I haven't tried my truck with all my new parts i.e intercooler, meth and my hot rod pump. I'm still building air tubes as the spearco air tubes don't match up with my twins. Its killing me have all the good stuff on and I can't drive the thing yet.
