ez to comp

I am currently running the edge ez and, I am going to a drag comp. My question is can I run on level one or maybe two like an ez with no egt problems until I decide what I am going to run for a new turbo. Thanks

I'd run it on the highest level possible. You could probably run it on 5x5. If not that, then 4x5.

You can run the higher levels since you have the beefed up tranny, but then your EGTs will go up. But there is a simple solution to that problem. I am running the Comp in my CTD and the higher levels would raise my EGTs. I found out that the problem lies with the wastegate. The wastegate is set to a max level of boost, so when the turbo reaches that level the wastegate opens and the exhaust bypasses the turbo and your EGTs go up. With the Comp, the boost goes up real fast so the wastegate opens too early. I found that BullyDog.com has the J-hook to fix this problem. Or you could go the cheaper route since you are upgradin and rig it some how to stay closed. When I put the J-hook on my CTD my EGTs went down when on the throttle, and the boost went up. Hope this helps.

He should have a boost elbow installed already or another way to close it off as it is. If not, then go to lowe's and buy a turnbuckle and clamp that wastegate off and have fun.

dont clamp it off completely,,that wont do you any good.with the same injectors you have, and a powermax comp(very comparable to the drag comp),clamped shut,i would do 47lbs of boost..way off the map,and not indusive to lowering temps or turbo life.you can either use a bleed off hole,or a turbo master until you get you a better turbo.mine worked out to run the coolest at about 36 to 37 lbs.boost......................bama

simple answer to you question .yes you can run on the lower levels with no egt problems ........ level 2 I believe is 60hp just like your current ez

do you have an egt guage .......... if not I'd stick to level 2 max till you do. if so you can play a little

I'm still running the stock turbo and can run level 4 with safe egt's

level 5 heats up pretty quick but can be used for short periods, like passing people

I'm hitting over 40lbs of boost right now too, but I've ordered an adjustable boost elbow from peirs so I can limit my boost to 35 lbs or so to save my turbo .might help my egt's a bit too I hope
