Re:Exhaust gas temps??

Hello
I have my EGT sending unit pre turbo. I have read that 1400 pre turbo is the max "SAFE TEMP" say for pulling a trailer up hill. You haveing your EGT sending unit post turbo it is 300/400 degrees lower, so I would say somewhere around 900/1000 you should grab a lower gear.
I hope someone with a post turbo sending unit helps you out with this.
Good Luck
See Ya
Chris

Re:Exhaust gas temps??

1400 degrees pre-turbo is way to high. Maybe for a couple of seconds on a dyno run might be o.k. 1250 degrees is a safe upper limit. It is not as simple as adding 300 degrees to the egt's if the reading is post turbo. Personally I would not want to constantly do arithmetic to determine the egt's.
