What is the ultimate best, meanest, loudest sounding exhaust you can get? a full 4 inch system with muffler, a 5 inch system? what brands. Would strait piping my stock exhaust sound better than all of them. Also is the performance going to be about the same with a strait piped stock as a 4 inch with muffler? Just want a loud sound and maybe some mpg. And also what intake is the best for making sound? thanks .

 

My guess would be a straight 5" exhaust. Loud and mean!

 

5" straight pipe... no muffler, no silencer ring...

 

I'd have to put my vote in for stacks. Preferrably 6" stacks so that they resonate a little

 

IMO make sure you step up gradually from the start to your final size. Too big an increase in too shot a distance in the pipe and you will introduce turbulance into the exhaust system which can ultimately create tremendous back pressure and kill the performance you've worked so hard to build up.

I've heard if I just cut out the muffler and weld in a piece of straight pipe I will see about the same result as a 4 inch downpipe back on a stock truck.
