Exaust opinion

Hello,

I know everyone will have a differnt opinion. I currently have a 3 inch straight pipe. Guy before me had this set up. It is really load and has a drone. I am in the market for a 4 inch exhaust turbo back. Will be added before May. Anyhow, Looks like the option for me is MBRP and Magnaflow.(haveing the install by the same shop that will do gauges) I know this is a pretty subjective question. But I would like to hear what you guys have to say. What are your opinion on these 2 exhaust systems?

Thanks,

Ok, subjective here we go! .......Here is my .02.......I don't like the Magnaflow for a few reasons......

1) The Magnaflow only has a 3 1/2" down pipe in their 4" system......this really isn't too big a deal but if you are planning on more bombs in the future, I would want the 4" down pipe.......besides, you are paying for a 4" system, so it should be 4" from turbo to tail, no?

2) Price.....you may be able to do better than I but I could not get as good a price on Magnaflow as MBRP.

3) Mufflers.....I like the sound of the MBRP muffler much better than the Magnaflow. I think I remember Mark from DPPI saying he had some sound bytes on their website of some MBRP systems.

I have said it before, sometimes I feel like a MBRP sales rep. but I have yet to see better systems........regardless of year and model, they make sure all the proper hangers are in the factory locations and they do make the best down pipe, IMO. I can't stand the straight pipe drone hour after hour on the highway - drove me nuts.......the MBRP muffler eliminates the drone and gives a deeper tone without that straight pipe raspiness.......however, it is not a lot quieter than a straight pipe outside of the truck.

Thanks CTD,

Thanks for the heads up on the down pipe. And yes, straight pipe is fine around town. But towing our 5er on the highway, drives me crazy. I am hopeing that it will quite down in the cab a little. Outside the cab, well, I don't care.

I ran the Magnaflow 4" SS system with 3.5 down pipe for a year. Worked great. Magnaflow claims that 3.5 is better for lower HP applications. I recently installed a banks exhaust brake and bought the 4" brake that came with a banks 4 " down pipe. I ended up getting the banks intermediate pipe also to complete the installation. So ahead of the muffler I am now banks and muffler back I am Magnaflow. Magnaflow 4" SS muffler is only slightly louder than the stocker, with a nice mellow sound if the rear window is open. Call Rip at SourceAutomotive in Oregon http://www.protintnw.com/sa-main.htm He will set you up with the right stuff at the right cost. FYI, no drone with either system I have used. Snoking

I know its not mentioned, but, I'm runnin the AFE 4'in turbo back system and have no complaints. With the muffler on nice, smooth sound and you can really hear the turbo whistle. Now, with the muffler off, the thing just sounds plain MEAN! Just my .02.
