Getting ready to do a rebuild on a 12valve. New bearings, rings, pistons, and seals. How important is it to have the assembly balanced?? How exactly is it done?? I dont plan to spin it over 4,000. I've never heard of guys doing it on our diesels but since i have everything apart nows the time to do it if any.

As long as you don't go over that, the factory balance should be adequate. If you want it balanced most good eng rebuild shops have a source for balancing.
