egt stock vs. ez

happy weekend all, today i ran the freeway a few times stock to get a few reference numbers egt wise. using a fluke meter, very accurate, i could pull 1147*F very easily in 6th. plugged in the EZ and ran the slab again, and man, what a difference. with the box in 6th as before and WOT i could not get the egt over a grand and that was just short of going sub-light. is it possible that the stock software is so far off that i could have been overheating the slugs every time i left the house pulling the toy hauler? it makes me wonder because several times in the past the engine just didn't seem to be making the power or torque that everyone talks about when describing their towing experiences and kind of felt like it was "in pain", don't know exactly how to describe it, anyway, the truck seems to absolutely love the EZ, it runs better and cooler than it ever has, and if the overhead isn't effected by the box i picked up 5 MPG. i'll calculate it on paper next fillup but until then thanks for all the information needed to drill holes in my truck, put it's warranty at risk, and literally ROCK ON!

That all sounds about right. I noticed the same thing when I installed my EZ. I had the superchips programmer before, and the temps went through the roof when I towed with it. With the boost fooler in the EZ it will allow the much-needed air to go over the preprogrammed de-fueling limit. When your ECM sees boost over 20 or 21psi (not sure of the exact number) it will start to de-fuel to bring the boost down. I think Dodge had this done to protect the weenie stock tranny, but with the boost fooler in the EZ it can go higher.

The stock 24V injection timing is retarded for emissions control. Retarded timing = higher EGTs.

Stock, my truck would hit 1300 degF towing our 5th wheel. With the EZ, boost elbow and 4" exhaust, EGTs would not go over 1100 degF - until the DD2s went in!
