As I just installed mine yesterday I will reply. Pre turbo will give more accurate readings. Keep in mind that the further away from the initial exhaust flow the more time the temps have to drop, this will allow you to believe that your temps are cooler than they really are. I was surprised at how the guage showed instantaneous changes on acceleration.

To install it I started drilling the hole in the manifold and then once I had a good start I put grease on the the drill bit to catch the metal being drilled out. Once I had a small hole into the interior of the manifold I put on googles and welding gloves then started the engine and allowed the exhaust to help push the filings out the hole and not into the turbo. Then to tap the hole I greased the tap, started it and then would make about a 1/2 turn on the tap then back it out, clean off the grease and filings and then regrease and and do it again. It was harder to wire up the guage light to a dimming circuit in the light switch than to do the install.

Almost everyone will tell you pre turbo is the way to go. As will I. More accurate, quicker response. The risk of the probe coming apart and destroying the turbo (main reason for going post turbo) is insanely slight.

This is where it suppose to be... PRE-TURBO!

As for a probe coming apart... I've never heard of anyone on the forums saying anything about lossing a turbo from a Pyro probe failure... As for me I check my probe once it awhile for damage...
