EGT Help

You can see by my signature my truck is stock besides a K&N drop in filter, power puck, and I just added 4 in exhaust turbo back. I pull a 31 foot aluminium 3 horse horse trailer. Before adding the exhaust my egt's could hit 1200 pretty easy on a long hill. I added the exhaust Wednesday, I havent pulled yet but, daily driving it doesnt appear to have lowered the egts. Will I see a difference pulling and how long can I see 1200 before melt down. thanks

I think you'll see a difference while pulling. I would think that you could maintain 1200 for a few minutes any way if not 4 or 5

Mine sits at 1200 most of the time when pullin, ya see here in WV it's uphill both ways. You won't have any problems at 1200 just don't go past it for extended periods of time!!

These trucks factory will hit 1250*. Mine did with a BHAF and 4" straight pipe. Put an ez on there and the max I could get to was 950*. The little timing that the EZ did helped with EGT's. And don't worry about 1200*. You won't have any problems at that temp.

pulled yesturday, Egts still climbing I didnt let them get over 1200 will push it a little now. Will a BHAF help over a drop in K & N? Thanks for all the input. The amazing thing is with the new exhaust the truck drives so different the rpms and speeds are different. Now 70 mph is about 1700 rpms in sixth gear as 1900 before. Truck runs better and the new exhaust is quieter than what I had before.

I think a Super-BHAF works better than any other:

p.s. your new exhaust changed your RPMs in 6th?

I remember reading somewhere that the cummins can go all day at 1250 degrees, that was from cummins themselves.
Dont quote me on this, but it doesnt bother me getting my truck this hot when towing.
