Edge Ez
Edge Ez
Have decided to buy an edge ez for my '01' w/auto tranny. Is anyone out there running the same on there truck. If so, any comments about likes or dislikes. I do not tow anything heavy and I do not race my truck but I do like to get on the right peddle every now and then to get around some of those ford drivers slowing me down.

Know of nobody that did not like this mod. I loved mine, when I was starting to Bomb my truck...still use it. Will make big difference with your tires if you have a 3.54 rear end. Should be gentle enough for your stock tranny, depending on its condition...even new autos vary greatly on how much power they can handle.
There is a good buy on a 2002 EZ in the classified...just needs a $38.00 adaptor from Edge.
Good Luck

I love mine. I tow a 9,500 lb 5th wheel camper and the EZ really woke the truck up. Makes a incredible difference when towing. You won't be sorry. Some guys recommend getting an Edge Comp and not hooking up the wire so that it works like the EZ. Then you can always hook up the pump wire later if you want to make some serious power.
i have loved mine since i put it in a few months ago. lots more power, throttle response, and improved fuel mileage - it's all good.
also, dont mean to pirate yuor thread, but have been wondering about something for awhile in regards to my edge EZ - so any help or education would be appreciated.....
when i first installed my EZ, i got lots of nice black smoke when accelerating. lately, it doesnt seem to smoke as much as it used to. not that i need tons of black smoke, but sometimes its kinda fun to fill up a ricer with open windows
so, anyone have any ideas about the decrease.......

I just installed my EZ last week (took 5 minutes to do). What a change! I can't get on it to hard because of stock tranny. But when I roll it on and the lockup T/C hits you really can feel the power.
Getting Transmission work done next week.

I just put the ez off of my 01 I'm selling on the 02 I just bought for my wife. They are a real nice power add. I think I'm going to hold off putting the 2.5 edm's in till something happens with the transmission cause I'm sure I would probably tear it out if I don't. Boy after driving a decent built trans and then hopping into a stock one the difference is unreal. I had the ez and injectors and 35-40 on the 01 ho and it was a great combo without any wire tap. The ez on the auto is a little quieter than it was on the HO truck.

mine is smoking less because it's colder than whale dung in Kansas right now...
The EZ is a great addition but I'll be gettin' injectors(and a new clutch) soon.
dont know pressure exactly, dont have a FP gauge (i gotta work on that)- but it should be fine-both lifter and injector pumps were replaced 2-3 months ago.
i was wondering about the colder temps myself.......down to about 2 degrees here last nite. think that might be it?

colder air is more dense and helps to achieve a more complete fuel burn..... hence you see the term 'cold-air intake' associated with the different aftermarket/performance intakes.
to address the original question..... an EZ is great for a mild increase in power, fuel mileage and happy smoke. I'm already looking for more power though. The Comp is a great mod and can be run as an EZ until you can beef the tranny. The best part is that it has in-cab adjustability. I'd recommend getting a fp gauge first.
I can attest to what everyone says, once you start BOMBing, you'll never stop.

d0dg301,
If you're sure you will not want to upgrade more in the future get the EZ, great product and works very well. If you have a mind that might get the best of you later on as the itch for more HP gets to you, get the Comp and save the cost of a second purchase. We have sold a lot of EZ's and then had the call a few weeks to a few months later from that EZ customer when they upgrade to a Comp, we love to sell it to them a second time but hate that they spent money twice so save yourself that cost if you think you might want more later on.
Call us if you have any questions etc.
