Edge Comp
Edge Comp
im wanting a chip for my 02 i had the edge comp in mind, has anybody had any problems with it..i have an auto tranny. will it be able to hold up. everything else is stock but i do have the in tank pump
try to get your hands on a drag comp. it is much better than a regular comp but both are awesome. i have run every sub-$1000 box out there for the VP trucks and love my drag comp. sad news is the comp will eat your tranny for lunch

yeah im gonna get gages the same time as i get a chip the salesman at the shop told me to get the juice with attitude but i want the analog gages. or mabye a programmer wouldnt be a bad idea...what makes the smarty so great?
Your current transmission will not last very long if you hotrod with more than 75 added HP. If you want more than 75 hp, you need more than a smarty, xzt+, Van Aiken, Edge EZ. However, with your current stock transmission, those lesser in power boxes are all that will last in your current transmission. If you do get a Comp, Juice, Xzillerator, Redline, or TST Powermax, all 120 hp + boxes that tap a wire on the injection box, you will also need an upgraded fuel lift pump system to keep up with the new demands placed on the injection pump. If you spend a little time researching tranny upgrades, you can spend some money now to protect your transmission and build it up enough to handle extra power. In fact, a built up tranny will make your truck feel like it has a chip when it is in stock engine form due to putting all available HP to the ground. The best 75 HP box out there, as far as cost and adjustability is the xzt +.

The Edge Comp is a great, and pretty reliable box. I would advise against the Juice with Attitude, the Attitude monitors are still having so many reliability issues. So yes, you're on the right path of getting analog gauges.
The unforunate part...the Comp is going to eat your trans for lunch.
Also, the in-the-tank pump is a bad design for Chrysler. In stock form, it barely provides enough fuel pressure. On a bombed truck you'll suck it down to zero pressure. So you'll need to plan on a better lift pump too.

VP44
and have up graded the Tranny.
You have a rebuilt VP the factory ones are aluminum and so are most rebuilds the black one came from overseas or something like that. I cant remember if they are bad or good but one thing is for sure before you buy a comp you need a new fuel system, and if possible some trans upgrades. you can run the comp on lower power levels for your trans but the fuel pump is key, those VP's are 1000.00 of so a piece so a 500.00 or so fuel system will save you big $$$ in the long run. Its not hard to do either, especially with the crazies on this site.
Must be a mean little 60 hp box you've got there

The injectors will add fuel. The tst also can add fuel. You'd be better to just get bigger injectors than smaller injectors plus another box for lower overall egts and costs. The tst will bring power in sooner and harder than the smarty by itself.
Not too jack this thread but what kind of tranny upgrades are you talking about? Valvebody? Torque converter? I too am thinking about getting a comp. I would like to upgrade from my 60 horse hypertech programmer.
