edge box Q

I just an 01 cummins with edge box in it. The display reads boost, egt and fuel pressure. What fuel pressure readings should I be getting? lt varies between 6 and 9psi on the stock (0) setting on the edge box. Tx.

your fuel pressure will vary depending on what lift pump you have and where the gauge ties into the fuel system. assuming that you have a stock lift pump...your pressure seems about right.

The fuel pressure is ok perhaps a bit low as most would like to see no less than those numbers at WOT. It is plenty enough for the engine to run fine but again perhaps a bit low for max cooling of the vp44 injection pump.

As far as the HO designation in 2001 the only way to get an ho was if it came equipped with a six speed manual transmission and the only way to get a six speed was with an ho engine. It is possible though unlikely that someone could have swapped in an auto or 5speed manual. Obviously the engine data plate would be the best place to look. It will state 245hp if it is an HO and 235hp if it is the standard engine.

tx on fuel pressure

The lift pump is no longer by the filter. It was either relocated to the rear or in the tank. On the mount bracket by the fuel fliter there is just what looks like A junction block of sorts for the fuel line. The dealer probably did conversion on it on it for the last owner. I had that done on my 03'. From what I read and what my diesel mech. buddy tell me its a good idea to upgrade the lift pump. Going to do that.

Tx again I had a couple other cummins trucks but just now needing to know about the performance end of things. I got A smoking deal on this 2001 without a scratch on it and 115k miles. Just trying to rig it up right so its a solid truck that will last.

check by your vp44 off of the banjo fitting. that's where mine hooks up. I have a different filter housing than your truck but on mine that would be another place to tie in because I have an extra port on top. maybe it ties in at that junction block. if it's not at those places than follow the wires where they come through the firewall. should be a braided wire harness. also what edge do you have. juice ? ez? I run my juice w/ att on setting 3 and with an airdog raptor lift pump and stock injectors and stock turbo I get 21- 23 mpg and still plenty of snort.
