Dumb Exhaust tip question......

Gettting ready to weld my tip on and I got to thinking......

Is this thing supposed to angle down, back, down and back?

It's a 5X12 angle cut, the thing is that my tailpipe is comming out more perpendicular than I expected it to. I thought it would end up exiting kinda like the third gens, more like a 45* to the fender. Now that mine is more straight out behind the tire, I'm not sure how to angle the tip.

I can tell you that down AND facing a bit back looks nice.
Just want to make sure before I tack it up.

Thanks for any input.

Whatever looks best to you is the way it should be. I have seen some tips put on in ways that I totally disageed with, but it is their truck, so what the heck.

I would go down and back. Mine is very level and close to the rear quarter panel and I have a major soot stain all the time.

But, do what you think looks best!

See, thats more like how my factory system exited, but now my tailpipe is more torwards the tire than the bumper. I'm not even sure if I didn't put the tailpipe section on backwards but I crossed that bridge.

It's a done deal, I pointed it back a little ways, just enough so you can see that it is 5" from behind. Looks good, I'm pleased with it.

4" turbo back with flow through spiral type muffler, got a delete pipe for an extra $20. (don't think I'll be using it, it is dump truck sounding enough as is)

I am VERY happy with the sound and best off all I got it all for $328.00 yes, tip included.
I know they are not a site vendor, but Warpspeed Performace took care of me on this purchase. Quick shipping and support after the sale, they were nice folks to deal with.

Thanks for the tip input.

Actually it should point straight back.
Exiting exhaust gases will provide added propulsion and give you five more miles per gallon.
At least it works this way on a Ford.

is that why they are always hammering it to keep up with us ??

My truck is white, and my exhaust is level coming out from under the body. I got a turn down like the semi trucks use, and painted it black. I installed it so that the slash cut is about15 deg from verticsal facing back (back and slightly down exhaust flow anlge).

It works well, and I don't get the huge soot stain on the body, which was my main reason for doing it.

The PO had the end of the tailpipe actually under the body...the whole rear corner of the truck behind the drw fenders was black as the ace of spades.

Well, I wish mine came out like that.
I'll pot tommorow and show you. I think it looks okay, not sure if I have the tip sticking out too far or not. I couldn't figure any other way to run the tailpipe that it wouldn't make it impossible to get to the spare??

I can still get the tip off and swap the pipe around if needed, I thought from the begining that it looked different, but went with it.
You'll see.
