Question Dual fuel pressure senders

Has any one out there installed dual fuel pressure senders, one pre and one post filter, with a switch to be able to read from one or the other on your fuel pressure gauge? I want to do this to be able to see when my fuel filter is getting plugged up as well as see when my lift pump is packing it in. Will this work? Any other ideas? Where is the best location pre and post to install the senders? I have a 2001 24v. Thanks.

I did it on my '98.5 about 4 years ago. Of course this won't help you with an '01.

I got all of the components from Westach. I used the more expensive senders. I usually see about 1/2 psi difference between the inlet and outlet pressures. I ran a filter for a little over 22k miles once and only had about a 1 psi difference. I think the service manual says up to a 5 psi difference is OK.

I've personally never felt dual inlet/outlet gauges were necessary. Once you know what your normal cruising filter outlet fuel pressure is you watch for it to drop, if does replace the filter, if that doesn't help suspect the lift pump. No harm in having duals either, just more money.

I recently replaced the stock fuel filter on a '99 that had 76k on it, fuel pressure was fine.
I change mine at 25k unless the fp gauge drops, hasn't happened yet in 215k but it only takes one lousy tank of fuel.

I purchased an On-On switch for this reason. I have not purchased the second sending unit as of yet, the tractor has to come first.
