DTT Transmission

I have found a guy wanting to sell his DTT tranny and get a Suncoast. I believe he is pushing about 800-850hp. He drag races with it. He said that after about 2 runs it starting slipping. He made about 6 more runs and it did the same thing. That night he got home and took it out. He only wants $1,600 for it. It also has billet input and output shafts. Would it still be a good deal, even though it slipped, for my truck? I doubt I will ever have 800hp. It sounds like a good deal to me.

sounds pretty good. now would be a good time to freshen it up while it is out of the truck and replace any cluthes that need it and all the seals.

Seriously. I wanna know who's at that power that's slipping one. Not saying that their invincible but that it's kinda rare.

I'd suggest that you call DTT with the name of the owner of the tranny. They should be able to help you get the tranny set up for your truck.
Slipping at 800 hp is quite serious, the amount of heat generated by slipping is enormous. I'd definitely refresh it before installing it. You can imagine 800 hp grinding away on the frictions.

I agree with both these guys...something ain't right!

BUT, for $1600 that is a steal even with a problem or 2...I know what I paid for mine, it didn't take long to get to $1600!

I forgot the guys name but he lives in Mooresville, NC. He says all he does is drag with it. Before I put it in I'm gonna check it out and replace any thing needed. Thanks guys!

Find out who built it if it was done By Tim Barber, Olee Poole or direct shipped and ask them whats all in it and what they think about it.

DTT has records, I believe, of every tranny they ever built/sold...by owner names. As said above, I would check with them to be sure it's a full rebuild... not just some parts?
Find out where he races. Someone on the DTR will know him...or at least know the truck.
A couple hours of investigating should get you enough facts to make a good decision. I agree with others here...something sounds not right!

Olee is out of town, I'll ask him about it later if i think of it just for info.
Theres a tranny floating around up here, that was supposed to be on a truck making some big numbers but never made any numbers at all, just a bad setup. Tranny overheated and was smoked in no time at all! Be weary of what the owner says!
