It's killing me...but I need to do some more BOMBing before I do the tranny. Wanna be 4K ready so we can make sure it shifts right

I've had my DTT for about 100K miles. I would not change a thing about the way it drives... at the strip or on the street. The amount of abuse I have given it, is nothing short of amazing.

Go with Timinva. He'll treat you right after the sale too with great service. That's the part that most people forget when they order a transmission.

I'm doing billet input, output, flexplate, and a 48RE VB...I'm hoping to make it to the first "freshening" until I break anything! Then I might to the billet main if they seem to be holding up any better!!

15 days and counting....Huh?

Curious about your thinking on the flexplate?.... and the intermediate shaft? Thought the concensus on both was ... not really needed?

The flexplate is something that I figured I would break, so I did it! Have a couple buddies that thrash on their trucks like me, and a few broke flexplates, so I figured I might as well do it now! The only downside is that thing is too pretty to be tucked away under a truck, hopefully never to been seen again

On the intermediate...me and Tim decided that for the money, a billet intermediate is not proven yet. People have broken billet and stock intermediates, so we decided not too! In 2 years, when I freshen the tranny up, and the billet intermediates prove themselves, I could add it. If I break it before then, hopefully the warranty will cover most of it!

For the extra pressure it can provide! Is there a reason you wouldn't do it??

I still don't see where that bit of info comes from, you can get 200 - 220 PSI from a 47 and about the same from the 48 VB. And all of this is dependant on the "condition" of the pump.

I am not "knocking" anyone, I am just really curious, I have never seen this"high" pressure in the 48 VB that some people talk about.

I'm not a tranny guru, so I'm trusting Tim's advice! He thinks there is an advantage, and he's building my tranny, so I'll take his word.

So really, I guess I'm blindly following his advice!

There are some advantages to the 48 valve body, and it all depends on the total package that is being put together. Overall I don't think the 48 valve body makes more pressure, but it does apply more pressure in certain gears. I sure wish I could remember which ones! It seems like it was OD and reverse, but again I am not certain about that. The 2-3 shift timing is also better I believe. The 48 front pump can also help too. Having said all that... I still have a 47 valve body...

I agree with going with what the builder recommends. If I knew more then they do, I would be building it myself...
