DSS The Steering Stabilizers

I figured I would build my own. Is the square tubing 2x2?

Yup, it is 2" x 2" square tube....it would be very easy to build except for one component.....the new pitman shaft nut. It is a custom machined part that replaces the old nut and has a snout (spindle) on the end of it that fits into the new bearing on the DSS. This custom nut alone makes it not worth while for most people to attempt to duplicate the DSS unless you have the means to make the nut yourself.....since most of us don't have a machine shop we would be forced to pay someone to make it for us at which point it would be no longer worth the effort. For the price of the DSS, it just isn't worth it.

used to...they would sell you the extended pitman nut, bearing, bearing holder, bearing plate and grade 8 hardware for $35 shipped. then, i just built mine out of 2"x2" tubing and 1/8"x2"x2" angle iron. i dunno if they still sell the build ur own kit or not anymore, but itd be worth checking. it was super easy to build

d'oh! makes me wish id kept the pitman nut/shaft off of my 99 before i sold it. i guess they were losing too much on guys like us that built em themselves. 35 always seemed super cheap to me when compared to what they wanted for the complete brace.

Hey you sneaky bas****s,

In case you are wondering.......

We did, at one time, have extra pieces laying around that we have sold to people that wanted to make their own, I don't have extras anymore so we stopped this practice.
