DSS Steering Stabilizer
DSS Steering Stabilizer
I'm getting ready to install the stabilizer on my truck. After visiting the Solid Steel Industries web site and reviewing a write-up about the stabilizer, I have a question that maybe one of our members can respond to. In the write-up, one of the things mentioned as a possible cause of poor steering perfomance is a steering box that has a loose sector shaft. Short of taking my truck to the dealer, is there a way for me to determine this. My truck has about 31k miles on it and is 2 wheel drive. It's my daily driver and I live in the city, so most of my driving is in town. The truck has never towed anything. I bought the steering stabilizer because I'm tired of the steering wander and constant corrections necessary to keep the truck going straight. The truck does not have any alignment problems. The tires are wearing very evenly.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Have someone rock the steering wheel back and forth while you watch the sector shaft from under the front of the truck. If it's loose, you'll be able to see it move.
