DSS Problem

This is mind boggling! I purchased a DSS from PSC Motorsports about a month ago. When I tried to put it on, it would not bolt up. It bolted up to the frame okay, but there was no way to center the new shaft extension in the flange hole. Therefore, I was unable to bolt up the bearing.

I contact PSC, tell them my situation, and they send me a new unit. Just came in from the garage, and guess what? The second one will not fit either! Same exact problem, I can bolt the unit to the frame, but the bearing holes are about 3/16" out of alignemnt (to one side). With the four frame bolts in place, I have slid the unit as far to the passenger side as possible, but the bearing bolt holes are, like I said, about 3/16" off.

The only way I see that this thing will work is to field modify it by expanding the passenger side frame bolt holes, or expanding the bearing bolt holes. The only problem is, by increasing the size of the holes, I am cutting the clearance down to maybe 1/8" of the edge. I think with it being this thin, it will lose its strength.

Has anyone had a similar experience with the DSS? I took one look at this thing and smiled because I new it was gonna be a 15 minute bolt up job. As I said before, this is mind boggling!

All of them I installed lined up really nicely. I think that your frame is out of spec. I don't know whether the different model years need different DSS models or maybe you've got an aftermarket steering box that has the shaft in a different position than the stocker.
Can you take pics with a tape measure to show the distances? This would help the supplier to find out what's wrong here.

If there is sufficient room on the mounting tabs on the DSS I would just drill holes to your liking and mount it up.

Mine went in really easy. No alignment issues at all. Maybe there is a problem with your truck.

No, the truck has never been in an accident. I am the original owner. The worry I have about drilling the holes to fit, is that from the hole to the edge of the tabs would only be about 1/8" or less.

Frame out of spec?? This is starting to worry me!
