tires

well I have noticed my BF`s A T I have 10 lb boost at 60 miles and hr. I run 50 lb front and 45 lb rear unloaded, They are load range D inflate to 50 lb max
these I just bought new this winter, Never again !

My summer towing tires are Michelin e rated 85 psi max . Un loaded I run the same air but show 4lbs boost at 60 miles an hr. The Michelin tires I took off last me 6 summers and still would pass the road test for thread dept.

I think the D`s make me burn more fuel than the E`s do . More boost = more fuel = more $$$$ a year to run the truck. My .02

When I bought my truck last year. The PO had just installed a set of 285-75R16 BFG KO. It finally dawned on me while I was rotating the tires that they are "D's".
With only 10k on them, these tires are HORRIBLE. They won't stay balanced and at hi-way speeds they feel like you are driving on marshmallows (not in a good way). You can feel the front end wallow on the side walls. With 60PSI in them.

These trucks don't have the best steering to begin with and these tires don't do the truck any justice.

This summer I plan to switch to a E rated tire. Either Firestone Destination A/T or Goodyear Wranglers. Both in 285's and E.
I just wanted to share my experience with BFG's.
Even though I run E's, I don't think you can make a sweeping statement about the tire based upon it's load range. When I put tires on Brownie, I put on E rated BFG's and got exactly the results you describe. I personally won't put another BFG on one of these trucks. My Cooper ST's on Greenie are still kicking tail...

This is the 2nd vehicle in a row that I got stuck with these tires not by choice. The other was a Jeep Wrangler that vibrated so bad it made your ***** ring.

BFG KOs suck. Plain and simple. These are not the same tire they were in the 80's & 90's

It's comforting to know I'm not crazy. These tires really are that bad. I'm interested to see how the truck drives with better rubber on it.

I have ran multpile sets of BFG AT KO's load range d and e. Never had vibration issues or any issues at all. The only thing I dont like is how they "crack" alot quicker than other tires. ran 285s and 315s.

Which Hankook tire did you go with? Been looking at the Dynapro ATM, just wanted to get some more feedback on them.

Thats the ones...The ATM F10...The tires are going on this weekend...I will post once they go on.

I know you can't believe everything on the internet...But I checked the reveiws and guys who have them, really like them...There is the odd person that hates them...But you never know if the guy has a shot frontend and blames the tires..

On the farm we had Hankooks on the truck..Those tires went through hell over rocks in the pasture,bush...etc...It was the only brand that didn't fall apart..

That's usually the problem with reading reviews online. Sometimes the opinions are so widely varied, it's hard to actually determine truth from fiction. I take the tread wear reviews with a grain of salt since you really have no idea what their idea of "worn out" or "plenty of tread" is. Not to mention not knowing what vehicle they're used on.

I have seen quite a few good reviews on them and the price is good compared to similar tires on the market.

I'll never run D rated tires on a diesel ever again. I did it with some Maxxis Mudders that came with wheels I bought. Over time they lost their sidewall integrity and caused a front end wobble that didn't go away until I bought new tires. Now I use E range Duratracs and they work flawlessly.
