Does any one have a winch?

I have been reading lot's of post's and no one talk's about winches on there truck's. Do you just put it on and forget about it? If you have one, How did you mount it? I put on the Warn Transformer with the XD9000i winch, Took it of my '86 Dodge.

Re:Does any one have a winch?

I have a Milemarker 9000 waiting to go on mine. I've had it sitting in the garage for a while. I was going for the receiver mount approach, but thought a slight side load would break something. Now I'm going to mount it to my bumper from Valley Iron Works(Oregon based), looks like a Reunel. Just gotta get the time to do it.

Re:Does any one have a winch?

I installed a front reciever and did the wireing front and back. So the winch can be unplugged and moved to the other end of the truck if needed.<br>Michael

I can't believe only 2 other people have winches, I know these truck's don't get stuck but gotta have some thing to pull ford's out with! Guess no one need's them.

Re:Does any one have a winch?

I am going to set up my winch so that I can use it in the front or back of my truck and in the trailer...just have it on a tray the mounts into a recvr and have the plugs for the power adjacent to it. I might even get some jumper cables made up for the plugs too.

Re:Does any one have a winch?

I've thought of doing the receiver mount, but the time and pain to route hydraulic lines (Mile Marker)to the rear is too involved for me right now(4 kids and moving to a new house). I was also worried about the side pull effect, I would find some way to break it! I do have a receiver in the front, just would stick out too far &amp; look funny.

Re:Does any one have a winch?

I have had a Warn 15,000 for about six months now but have not had time to install it yet. I am building the mount in the trailer hitch assy. so that it will unbolt with the hitch. I need it to pull vehicles onto the trailer.
