Does Any One Have....?

Does anyone have, or know of a place to get, plans to make a replacement rear or front bumper? The amishman down the road is VERY talanted with a welder, and Very good friends with us, and we could probably get one made very cheaply if we had the plans for one... Truck is a 98.5 2500 4x4

Thanx for your help

Mike

I don't know of any plans, but you could get some good ideas from the pics folks here have. Take what you like best and put an idea together.

I've built many over the years. Normally start with 4 inch or 6 inch well casing, and then go from there. First rear I built was in high school welding class. Had 4 inch filled with concrete. Tough to mount, but never got dented.

get some pics together, take some measurements of mounting points (maybe even go into a bumper dealers shop and measure up a bumper you like, and take pics) - then call the local college or VoTech school, get ahold of anybody in the engineering dept.; Ask if they have a CAD instructor, I'm sure he can direct you to a student who would be MORE than happy to make a few $ by doing a layout of your new bumper...

...unless a sketch with measurements will suffice for your welder buddy, I've found that most good welders are often better than I am at visualization and creation from simple sketches than I am

If you wanna make sumething complicated, looking good, you will have to copy a bumper, have one next to you- for measuring while you make one.

we bought a CTD up there in USA, which came with a Ranch hand stlyle bumper, we copied that one, except that we made it 3 inches shorter.

we made 4 front bumpers and 3 rear bumpers. for some of our dodge diesels. we made the one In my gallery the one on the gray truck.
I think i have the plans on paper. just let me searh for them, PM me

but you CAN design your own one, a guy about an hour from me, makes bumpers for all: dodge, ford chevy, he designes his own, and makes them fit:
look in my gallery, the one on the red truck.
