difference between long bed and short bed??
difference between long bed and short bed??
I know the short bed is almost 2' shorter than the long bed the question is. I want to order wheel well to wheel well nerf bars and the ad says for short bed trucks. I thought the missing 2 feet on the short bed were behind the rear wheel well. In that case the nerf bars would fit. Am I missing some thing, is the short bed also shorter from the front of the wheel well in the box to the front of the box?
RJ is right. Just look into an aux tank. Many large aux tanks fit only the long beds because that's where the extra space is.
They also do this to keep the setup consistent for 5ver/GN hitches, too. A sliding hitch on a SB is for CAB clearance, IIRC.

The LB is longer infront of the wheel well. Just look at the distance on the bottom of the truck, where the trim would be, between the cab and rear wheel on the 2 types of trucks. It is clear that the LB has more distance there. Thats how I spot what type of wheel base the has from a long distance, and I'm going blinder, if there is such a word.
Thanks guy, It has been a while since I owned a short bed. The thing that got me was on the short bed my camper would not rub on the bed rails on a steep angle and if I am not careful the long bed will. Thanks.
