di pricol gauge wiring question

I have been having some problems getting the right lead wire for my Pyro. Well, I get the new lead wire from the source, and it is the same as my last lead wire, plus it has a white and a black wire added. This not makes it a 4 prong that plugs into the gauge, which is what I have. The white and black wire has a tag that reads "LED illumination." I will hook this up tonight and hope it works...

Problem I am having is my pyro is not reading. it has the 4 prong connector at the back and I was sent the 2 prong lead wire. They thought I had the new optix series gauges.

My question is, doe the older Di Pricol gauges have to have a power source, like the white and black wire, for the pyrometer gauge to actually work? The two wires that are hooked together that went to the thermocouple I thought would have at least caused the gauge to register. But it no workie...

My pyro has just the two pyrometer leads, the other wires are hooked to 12v and GND to light the LED.

okay, got it hooked up.

CTD NEil: if you unhook the 12v wire and the ground, your gauge will not work at all. I know this from first hand experience...

When you say light the LED, do you mean the pointer in the gauge?

No, mine has an extra LED illumination besides the regular bulb.

Is yours working yet? I bought one in november of last year, not the optix series, and it arrived doa, exchanged the thermocouple and it still wouldnt register anything (just sat at about 200 degrees all the time)... I sent it in for repair in january to dipricol themselves (very common problem if you read up on em), and still am egt gaugeless, hence my sig .

Enjoy the great customer service when you send it back ......

well, i bought this set of gauges off of a guy on the classifieds here. I am not happy with the brightness of these gauges, but I will try some different bulbs before just giving up on them. After that, I guess I will ebay these, or just buy the optix ones, and put these in my race car, on second thought, no need for them in there. Hmm, we do have a tractor or two on the farm that has had the screw tinkered with...
