i am looking at putting some delivery valves into my pump, any specific delivery valve that anyone likes?

 

Laser cuts delivery a lot of fuel, probably too much for most people. A set of 181's or 191's would be a good set up. I would be careful with your clutch, you could easily overpower it.

 

i have a southbend 450hp, its not in my sig yet, but i think it will handle the power

 

SOME people have claimed to get some nice power out of full/laser cut DVs, with the smaller 160/175hp pumps.
I personally like .024s or .022s, less egts and smoke than 191s and more power than 191s.

 

Where can you buy .024s or .022s? They sound like DDP delivery valves, more power less smoke than 191's. My 191's have a slight stumble in my 160 pump.

 

I have 191's in my truck, and i really like them. I have had them in for a couple years or so now, and it pulls strong, and i dont have any kind of stumble.

However, they did add a lot of heat. I was running 181's before the 191's. The 181's added a little extra kick over the stock 131's, and I noticed no increase in EGT's or smoke. I then put the 191's in, and I have a little more smoke on the bottom, and a decent haze even when the turbo is lit. It would clear up before with the 181's or 131's. I got a nice jump in power. Id say 40hp or so. It was very noticeable. My EGT's went way up. I could at the most, hit 1300* with my 181's. Now, from a stop just mashing the throttle, my gauge is pegged on 1500* by 60mph. Its a trade off you make for performance though.

That said, I think some .022's would be a little better maybe. Id like to try some to see the difference.

Laser cuts will add a good bit of power too, but they are too smoky for me on the street I think. I like how mine clears up pretty decent at WOT right now.

If you find LC for really cheap,you could get away with them in the smaller pumps...Even in the smaller pumps they dump fuel.What I did was pull back the AFC housing to half and start adjusting the star screw that will get rid of low end smoke.181 and 191 are hard to find here...

 

Mine are DDPs .024.
I have come to find out in the last few years that Columbus Diesel Supply supplies DDP for all of their pump parts, and DDP jacks up the price.

Just curious yall so how do you think the laser cuts perform in a 175 hp pump that has well the mods in my signature and Im soon adding compounds that is a b1 bomber over a b3 along with porting and polishing head. So how do you think smoke and heat will be. Going back and forth b/w the 191's and full laser cutsjust not sure yet.

 

thanks! this really helps, i already have a stumbling probelm, but i think i have narrowed it down to low fuel pressure... on a different note, i have been tweaking on my pump and i adjusted whats called the smoke screw? and before my truck could put out a healthy amount of smoke, but now its virtually non-existant, whats also wierd is i took the fuel plate out (it was a zero before) so...what in the world did i do??

 

The smoke screw(pre boost fuel screw) basically is a set screw that determines how far towards the back of the AFC housing the AFC foot can come when the truck isnt making boost. The farther towards the back of the housing it is, the less rack travel you will have, which means it wont fuel as hard. Once you get boost, the arm moves out of the way and you will have full power, but before boost comes on, that arm determines how much fuel you will get out of it.

I bet you loosened the locknut and backed that screw way out didnt ya? The farther you screw that screw into the housing, the more off idle smoke you will have. The farther out it is, the less fuel you will have before boost, so hardly any smoke.

Hope that clears it up some. Its really pretty simple, and fun to play with.
