Deep Trans Pan
nitrousn,
Yes when you get the pan you will see an area that is twice as thick as the rest of the pan on the inside in the shape of a U. That is the boss that is cast in for you to put the sending unit.

I DO understand that past a certain size, you may not increase the cooling rate. But a larger pan WILL slow down the rate of temp increase under extreme conditions - like a slow heavy hill climb. Also, doesn't a bigger pan throw off more heat in the airstream ?
IMHO, this slower rate of increase, more than out weighs the extra heat stored by more ATF in the pan, and is the reason for my original statement.
Just my theory - no hard data!

Hey I bet were both right to some extent, that's what makes these sites so good, you get so much exchange of ideas that everybody get a good shot at gaining some knowledge.

My truck runs consistently 20 to 25 degrees cooler with the Mag-Hytec when towing my 3 horse slant with a load of horses, coolers and tack. Think I will just leave it on and trust my gage.

Paint VS Powder Coating
nitrousn,
The paint will almost make no difference transfer wise, it's very thin and will not effect the overall heat reduction. Powder Coating is very thick and has a lot of "solids" in it, that's what makes it such a good insulator.
