I have been toying with a Custom Buper Design. I am looking for a lower cost and lighter wieght bumper.

The one pictured here is shelled in aluminum sheet metal and aluminum diamond plate. I am looking to bolt the shell to the steel inner frame with some dome head lag bolts. I am still missing the brackets to mount it to the truck and the weight is currently at 107 lbs.

The tow hook pad eyes are currently aluminum. I don't think that is going to stay that way. I think I am going to make them out of steel and weld them to the inner frame and make cut outs so they protrude through the aluminum shell.

The cut outs for the fog lights should accomodate stock OEM fog lights.

I have designated the steel parts in black.

This is still in really early stages and I am looking for any suggestions or reccomendations that you may have. (Based on experience or oppinion)

That looks good ! A set of driving lights & a set of fogs could fill those four spots too.
Only one potential problem I see is in the backside pic, the steel does not go to the ends of the bumper. Other than that I wouldn't mind having a black power coated or bed liner sprayed one on my truck.
Do you plan on making a spot for a winch?
