Cummins MudFlaps -- How to mount?
Cummins MudFlaps -- How to mount?
Hey guys, quick question:
I was looking at the Cummins mudflaps for my dually from the Cummins Powerstore.
How exactly do they mount? Is there anything else required to mount them on the truck? Got any pics?
I know they don't have a picture (at least they didn't last time I checked), but I assume they are just the rubber, without the weights. I know of a good scrap metal place that has quite a bit of stainless, do you think I might be able to make a couple of weights out of something like that without spending a whole bunch on buying some custom flaps?
Thanks,
DFO

Just a note on those weights. They aren't that expensive at a big truck store, I was surprised. I bought a set at the local big truck dealership for about $25.00. They came with stainless studs attached along with washers and nuts. I expected a much higher price.
Not a Dually, but I just drilled holes in the wheel wells (plastic), got some short stainless (half of them turned out to be not so much stainless
) bolts, washers and nuts, and installed them that way.
No weights, and that is a bad thing, as the passenger side got a wee bit melted by the exhaust pipe.

They are not made of rubber, but rigid plastic, you won't need the weights, and yes phox_mulder...I melted mine too, we have to get an extension for exhaust or a tip to extend past the flap....
