Ok got a few questions, on thier site it says 4oz. for each tire for my size tire but the bag in bag smallest size is a 5 oz. bag so I was wondering those of you who use it, how much you used?

Hey Kandgo! It's a tire balancing system that is supposed to be better than the lead wheel weights, they are balancing beads that actually go inside the tire & move around while you are driving & is constanaly balancing you tire, so basically you won't have the weights & the tire is balanced for life with these internal beads, & I have heard of people getting really good milage out of thier tires because of the precise balancing, looks like a great product & I most likley am gonna be trying it soon, but I just kinda got in a little bind with the ounces thing, here is thier website for more info! I've been running Counteract in my Dodge for about 80k and will never go back to the old way. Also maintain a fleet of 16 vehicles, they all now get Counteract with new tires. Everyone I've introduced the beads to is very happy except the tire shops, they make a lot of money balancing (and rebalancing) tires. The beads are cheaper, work better and last as long as the tire.
I could be wrong but seem to recall my 285s requiring 6oz each of Counteract.

 

man, I just put new tires on a few months ago and if I had known about this I would have tried it. How many $$$'s? I couldn't find a price on their site.

 

Sounds the same as Equal. Maybe you can find a distributor close to you. Shawn

I paid $6 per tire plus 75¢ each for filtered valve cores.
The filtered cores are necessary to keep beads from plugging the core or keeping it from sealing. Anyone who sells the beads also has cores.

Don't know if it's still the case but when I first bought Counteract the reason I chose it over Equal was because Equal required you use dry filtered air to fill the tires to prevent bead clumping.
Can't always depend on dry air at a gas station.

EQUAL Tire Performance does NOT ABSORB water in any way.
Due to the fact that EQUAL is a plastic polymer granule, water or moisture will not change its composition.

Moisture that accumulates inside the tire will evaporate due to normal driving conditions and therefore is in contact with EQUAL for a very short time.

EQUAL, when in contact with large amounts of water, (to the point where it is actually floating freely), will do just that, float. This will interfere with the ability of EQUAL to optimize the given tire in the way that the tire dealer or fleet had intended when installing the product. Simply, this means that although EQUAL will never damage the tire in any way, if it is in contact with large amounts of water, it cannot perform its job. Again, it is important to reiterate, that in most cases, moisture will evaporate due to the heat build up in normal driving, and once the moisture has evaporated, EQUAL will perform as it originally did.

I have been running the Counteract beads for the past 20,000 miles and on trucks I will never use anything else. At highway speeds it feels so smooth-like the day I drove home from the dealer.

 

Just curious, but where does the water in a tire evaporate to? The tire and wheel is airtight. How can water of any sort evaporate once it is inside??
I can't see this happening by osmosis either. If this was the case then a farm tractor tire filled with water for weight would have a damp exterior. They don't and I do not remember ever adding any extra air to compensate for water evaporation.

 

I had the same question.
Looks like the Equal folks say it isn't a problem but the Counteract rep I talked with a couple years ago said that is was important and recommended removing a used tire and wiping out the insides with a rag before inserting the beads. I have personally seen tires that have been in service for years removed that had sweat like beads on the interior. Always figured it was from excess lube used mounting the tire.
