Cooper Tires

I replaced my old Goodyear tires on my old 95 dually at
45000 miles, with Cooper tires.I did it because they are
American owned. A friend bought my truck last Nov.
About 4weeks ago he had a tire loose the hole tread. It
tore the mudflap off and tore a big chunk of the fender
off.To make a long story short,he sent the tire and carcess
to Cooper with 2 est.for repair and in 2 weeks he recieved
a check from them for $1755 incuded money to pay for
new tire. The tires had 48000 miles on them.I couldnt believe
they would have done that. When my tires on my 03 are
worn out you know what I am going to replace them with!

Re:Cooper Tires

I've had limited experience with Cooper but their factory is right up the road from me. I think they make a good tire. They're just not as expensive as some of the big names with BIG advertising budgets. I see a lot of them in comercial applications.

Re:Cooper Tires

Ram Ion- I had 2 out of 4 cooper tires separate cords on me. Cooper tires gave me partial credit for them. Les Schwab Tires worked with me, I didn't want them on my rig anymore, and I got some Toyos this time. Turns out there is a class action lawsuit involving the tires I used to have. http://www.coopertirelitigation.com/coopertire/ The coopers were never operated overweight/underpressure.

Re:Cooper Tires

My dad and grandpa were running coopers they have a great all season that has some good bite in the winter. A buddy here with a local shop sells them and they are cheap.

Re:Cooper Tires

Hey Got Smoke, no fuss at all. They were Discoverer A/Ts in LT265/75/16 load range E. They always worked well for me. Until they seperated. One did it in Vegas after a day of travel in the heat, the second on a mild temp day after a couple hours, and it was a front tire. Really weird, the tread didn't come off either one, just got very mishapen all of a sudden. I think that one day in Nevada probably killed both of them, and the front that died a few months later was the other back tire on that hot day, and had been rotated up. I know the suit I referred to listed specific dot numbers of coopers, it wasn't all of them, so maybe it was just a bad run of tires. By now most are probably off the road due to mileage if nothing else. Have a good one! Jcamper

Re:Cooper Tires

The only tires I will run are Cooper. They are competitively priced, the gentlemen who sells them locally will go out of his way to make sure you are satisfied. I am currently running 285/75/16 A/T on my truck. And 245/70/15 H/T on the wife's Cherokee. And 255/50/16 Cobra on the Benz.
Never had a stitch of trouble with any of them. Have run Cooper for years along with other brands here and there, but always seem to go back to Cooper. Great tires, Fantastic dealer.
Just my .02
Rich

Re:Cooper Tires

At work we have run Cooper Discoverer tires on five pickups with no problems. My truck also has them. Might not have as much of a problem here in Michigan as it does not get as hot.

Re:Cooper Tires

I run 235 AT's, and love them. They're great in the winter too. Lots of freeway driving- smooth, no noise. I get on the trails often too, no problems, lots of sand. I stay away from mud pits these days, so no experience with them there.

Re:Cooper Tires

What kind of milage can you expect out of a set? I have run bfgoodrich and others and they all seem just a little soft and wear quickly. I like the looks of the cooper and if they wear better I may just end up with a set.

Re:Cooper Tires

I got the fronts before winter, have a little play, didn't have it aligned, but I don't think it's off much anyway. They still look good up there, no feathering. Duallys on the back, only loaded occasionally, probably don't work as hard.

Re:Cooper Tires

Don't want to introduce contoversy here but my experience with tires that last for ever is that in wet weather they slide easily. No stopping or acceration ability. In fact they can be quite dangerous at times. The softer tires are stickier but do tend to wear faster.
Anybody else noticed this?

Re:Cooper Tires

My last car had Coopers steel radials. Sold the car to my sister in law. It now has 130,000 miles on it. The tires have 70,000 on them. I looked at them last Saturday - - I think they probably still have another 20,000 miles on them. Still stop good in rain, etc. Excellent results with them.
