Comp + Jammer 3 Injectors = ?

Im told that JUST THOSE TWO (By DTT) that my truck will make about 430hp and 950tq. True? My thing is that I want 1000tq and about 500hp. But I want it to be USEABLE while towing. Im assuming I will need a better charger to keep that cool while towing? Throw in your thoughts and experiences. I dont tow that often, but when I do, it trailer can be up in the 13,000lb range. I want it so that I can use that torque while Im towing, when its most needed. I dont race either. Lemme know what you all think Ill need to keep her cool while working with 1000lb.ft.

PS: Thanks to all for helping with advice on my Trans upgrade issue! Seems that DTT is a pretty top notch company, very helpful too.

Jammer 3s plus Comp = unsafe EGT

I think you could get close to the 500 hp mark with a B1 turbo and built tranny

Do not even think about that setup with the stock HY35

I run that exact setup. I'm definately in need of a turbo. I have the bhaf and four inch exhaust. My truck did 356hp and 717lbft on a dieing injector pump. A bigger turbo will bring those numbers up. Just like glennrmk said, the egts go up fast. I can peg the pyro just mashing on it to get on the interstate empty. Turbo response is ureal. You'll be over 40 lbs quick if you don't watch it. The truck will be very responsive but run out of usable power quickly due to heat. With a pyro and dtt, you could tow with the box off or on stage one. You'll definately have to learn to drive by the pyro.

You will need more injector and a lot more turbo to get 500 usable HP. I would expect your setup to yield more like 390-410 HP. A typical setup I use for 500 HP is a B-1 turbo, drag comp, and Mach 4 injectors (150 HP). This setup yield and honest 500-515 HP.

mstordahl,

The guys are right if you don't want to change turbos get the Comp and Stage II's at the most, we sell Comp's and Stage I and II's pretty often and it works great, but beyond that it's pretty hot EGT wise. Heck a Comp and 275rv's is a pretty strong combo on a stock turbo. Give us a call if you want, we will be glad to help you.

Interesting...I was quoted by DTT that my truck with JUST the Comp and Jammer 3 injectors would put out at least 900tq with my stock turbo. Guess that is not correct then. So Im assuming that a Drag Comp is a hotter version of the Comp, but still adjustable like the Comp? And what is the B-1 turbo? Never heard of one before. So if I go up to a stage 4 Jammer, Drag Comp, and B-1 turbo, would that keep me nice and cool, or is there still bound to be some egt problems?

Thanks for the replys guys.
Matt

check my sig for my #s with edge comp (not drag) and DD3 injectors (not jammers) with a stock HX35W and BHAF on a HO.

900 is possible but not useable.

first and foremost, get some gauges. EGT, fuel pressure, boost, tranny temp.

drag comp removes the defueling that is present with the regular comp from 2700 to 3200rpms. still havent figured out if this is only on level 5 or all levels.

is there a power difference between the regular dd3's and the stage 3 nozzles? The stage 3 dd nozzles I have are supposed to be 100hp.

i guess i will find out soon, i have DD3's with my van aaken that will hit 1250, and i just sold it and bought a comp, should be on this weekend so i will let you know.

my turbo is not stock tho, its an hx-35 with a banks wastegated exhaust housing (not sure of size) and banks elbow to the downpipe, i plan on running level 2 or 3 for normal driving and towing, and onloy running 5x5 when someone wants to play or tries to pass the big slow diesel in front of them

oh yea...tailgaters beware

A comp on 5x5 with 275's puts my egt's at 1500* in a matter of seconds with the stock HY35.

Getblown5.9, Your housing should be a 14cm. I had that same turbo setup from Banks, and it was a 14cm housing. Look at the back of the housing there are some numbers, you should see a 14 cast in it. Your EGT's are going get hot with the box cranked up, I could hit 1450 and that was before the Comp!

right now i can get them to a little over 1350* with DD3's and 70hp van aaken if i run it out to about 100+ mph WOT...normal driving with this current set-up i dont see anything over 1100 if i stay under 80mph on the highway. i am going to have to keep the box turned down and my foot out of it anyway because i live in a highly populated area and on saturday morning i am installing dual 5" stacks that could draw attention so I will have to keep the noise and smoke down as much as possible

I havent been on a dyno yet but check my sig for components.
I can really get moving but it will hit 1500* fast even with a HTB2. I'm at 4500' elevation. Thats on level 5.
If I leave it on level 3 I can still hit 1500* just not as fast. From full stop with a WOT take off I usually hit around 42psi and 1500* at about 50mph. While crusing on the freeway about 60 or so (level5) I can accel about mid throttle and it hits 48psi and 1500* at about 95, seems to take about 4 sec from 60.
I'm looking at some twins or upgrading my HTB2 from a 62/12 to a 64/14.
hope that helps.
