cold idle/idle up

I was wondering if anyone knows how I can manually idle up my 01? on my brothers 06, you can set the cruise and use the accel button to idle the truck up if it sitting on idle for a while, or if you want the truck to warm up quicker. I was thinking maybe i could have it flashed in? truck has the High output cummins and the nv5600 trans, you would think that it would already be there in case somebody was going to use a pto with the nv5600?

You can get it flashed at the dealer, or by someone with a Smarty. That will enable the automatic high idle/3 cylinder idle. Thats all predetermined by outside air temps and coolant temps. You can't make it idle up on its own. Cummins has a high idler for these trucks, although I'm foggy on details. I know Dr. Evil has one, he might chime in about it, or PM him. There is also something about an APPS high idler, hit the search for that and you should score some info. Of course, there is always the tried and true method of cutting a stick and wedging it between the seat and pedal.

I used firewood for a long time. Then i ended up with an XZT+ and during the winter i would have a tune with a high idle on it.

idle up

actually I do have a smarty, and when I don't plug the truck in, and start it, it idles at curb idle for about 1 min, then idles itself up. problem is, I usually plug it in when I'm home, so it won't idle up. What i was hoping for is to unplug the truck, crank it up, then idle it up for a 10 mins or so.

Its kosher tho, thing always starts, even when it sits for a few days in the bitter cold without being plugged in. Gotta love those cummins motors!!

Get the Adrenaline with Pulse. All you have to do with it is set the Power level to 0 and it will idle up. You can also set the high idle warm up temp, when it reaches that temp (mines @ 125) it goes back to idle. But on Pl0 it will idle up any time you want and stay there until the Pl is changed of the accelerator is pushed.

I went to my dealer and they said it wouldn't work on a 5spd, only an auto. With that said, how much would it cost and could they mess it up?

Thats not true works on my 6 speed just fine - the fools dont know what it is and cant figure out how to do it.

Shouldnt cost more than a half hour labor. And no they shouldnt be able to mess anything up (but we are talking about a Dodge dealer so just about anything could happen).

Print this off and take it to them (if you cant borrow or buy a Smarty):

I do have a manual high idle box that was bought from Cummins - it was a weird thing - A local guy was making these and selling them to my local Cummins Service center. Apparantely, he does not make them any longer.
