cold air intake

i have the 5.9 24 valve can you stick just a cone filter on the front of the turbo or do you need a certain amount of piping

I've seen filters on turbo's but I don't think they were daily drivers, I believe they were drag trucks.

as far as i know it wouldnt hurt per say, thats alot of really hot air your pulling in though.

You need piping. A filter on the turbo would suck in a lot of hot air, not to mention the filter itself would heat up and act like a grid heater for the incoming air... lol.
