0216 is the death code for a VP44, so my guess is that it is indeed dead, unfortunately.

midwest fuel injection seems to be the best place for most.

I bought mine off of Ebay, but I called first to try to get a feel for the shop. Turned out to be Pensacola Diesel with a good rep, and I bought the VP. And it runs just fine for 1.5 years now. Was less than $950.

I won't comment either way on the blue chip pump, it's your money, it's your call. However, if you plan on increasing your HP substantially, then definitely go with an SO pump, you will be glad you did. If you intend to keep the truck relatively close to stock as far as HP, then just keep the HO pump.

why not change over to a p7100. I would think that it would not cost that much more and you have not bought any boxes or chips as of yet so u are ahead of the game in that respect. I am sure someone can chime in that has done this swap in the past. Good luck

I don't know if BC is worth it; I was told that all Bosch authorized shops refurbish VP44 using the same part kits and the same test stands, so any authorized shop is a good source for a stock VP.
If you're going HR, that is a different story.
