Well, got out of baseball practice today, low and behold, I couldnt get the truck in reverse. After I finally made it the the lockerroom, it was hardly grabbing at all. Took a shower and got in my truck to go home. I had it in first gear, pushed the clutch and started it... Well, it rolled about five foot then bucked to a start. Im thinking about a SBC or Luk... What would be the best for my money. I think I might just go ahead and put a OEM clutch back on it, since Im about to sell it, but arent OEM parts just about as expensive as aftermarket???

You should be able to get a stock clutch for $200 or $300. A SBC or Luk either one will be more than that. My buddy had good luck out of a napa clutch. It sounds to me like your slave cylinder has just gone out though, unless your clutch has been slipping.

I dont know to much about clutchs, so I wouldnt know. All I know is that i can push the clutch in, and not be able to put it in gear. I didnt slip the clutch very much, maby enough times to count on one hand... What now???

Yep thats what happened on an old F150 of ours, headed out to Jordan lake. About 2 miles from the ramp, pushing in the clutch did absolutely nothing. Had to start it in 4WD low, got it up to 4 wheel high, then finally 2 wheel high, and limped home (that was a long trip...), and somehow, somehow, we didn't have to come to a complete stop, and made it home safely.

Does the clutch hold fine once you are in gear, and going? If it does, then your slave cylinder is VERY likely your problem. They go out every so often.

Yeas, The truck holds tight when in gear. So, this slave cylinder is going to put me back about how much money, and can a local mechanic put it in. Also, how long will it take? Thanks Guys!!!

 

I think the hydraulics from Southbend is just over $200. Really easy to do, I think a total of 5 bolts, and one electrical connection.

 

4 bolts, 2 on the cylinder and 2 hold the resivware. 1 clip on the clutch pedal and the mastercylinder is a twist in through the firewall. and SBC's upgraded hydrolics are just over 200. I'd say its a good 30-1hour job depending on how much of a contourtionist you are.

 

If your getting rid of it just go to your local auto parts house and get a new one cheap. Don't see the need to drop $200 and get rid of it.

 

If it is the clutch call up Dan at ValAir, he will get you fixed up! I would really suggest one, they are great clutches and you can't beat them for the money. Mine is putting up to all of my abuse on a daily basis and has great driving manners, and again all for a VERY good price

My bro got the stock slave from mopar for $125 but he put in himself not that hard but if clutch valair is good for a street clutch not pulling if ever planned which to sig doesent seemed to be planned

 

Is any single disk good for pulling?

 

if you have an auto zone around you, they had the hydualics pretty cheap
