Cleaning the BHAF Prefilter.

how do you guys do it, and how often? i think it said when i bought it but i don't remember and i threw all the papers that came with it away . also, since we have the prefilter, how often does the filter itself need to be blown out, changed?

Clean it when it looks dirty. I've got one on my Polaris. I think you just use dish soap & water.

I have had mine on for about 15,000 miles, finally cleaned the outerwears about 2 weeks ago. Looked dirty, washed it with soap and water in the sink and hung it up in front of the fan to let it dry. My filter looked really clean, but I don't do a lot of dusty conditions. I checked mine by gently spreading the filter and checking between a few of the slots. You'll know if the filter is dirty by looking at it.

thanks guys, i think tomorrow i'll go on ahead and clean the prefilter.

does this prefilter really keep the actual filter that clean, or is it mainly just for water protection?

It does both. It works as a water repellant, but at the same time keeps larger particles from plugging up the filter.
