Check out my "Stage 1" package

hey all, the captain (wife) has officially released funding for the following bombs-

This is my "stage 1" package, I want to open up then ENTIRE airway before moving further. Xtreme Diesel is putting together a package deal for me, so I wanna make sure Ive picked a good setup, thats where you nuts come in.

1- ATS Arc Flow Intake Manifold
2- Volant Air Intake
3- MBRP Dual Aluminized Exhaust (4")
4- ATS 3 Piece Exhaust Manifold
5- Name your Intercooler. Xtreme doesnt have one, Im looking at banks and HTT right now.
6- Thanks to Cumminsdrivers advice, Im gonna pull an HX35W from a junk yard, upgrade the compressor with HTT's Stage 3.5, replace the housing and toss her on.

Im gonna try to keep all this below 3 grand, which I think I can with some careful shopping, maybe even 2500. If this works out, Ill be asking for tranny, Injector, Chip, Methanol and propane advice. And maybe where to find a good divorce attorney....

do you need a intercooler or just want one? check out www.citydiesel.net they have some for $845, i think.
some of your stuff seems like overkill. a cam and good turbo would do a whole lot more for egts than the arc-flow and intercooler IMHO
you need something like a HTT62/12 type turbo.
that exhaust manifold wont do that much for you egts wise.
please re-think you stuff, i dont think you need all that. exhaust and intake is all i see on your list that you really need.
just trying to help.

Why are you doing the exhaust manifold, intercooler and intake manifold? Is it for looks.Id knock those 3 off the list if your looking for power.Spend that money on things that will help strenthen the drivetrain,or add more power.Im still running the stock intercooler, and intake with twins and 600rwhp,as are many others. If money was endless i would go with an intercooler, but the stock one flows very well, and is paid for.I dont agree with your #6 either, a junk yard turbo on a 10000 engine.YOu can buy a new hx 40/35 for under a grand.Do not do a turbo until you add some fuel, you will see a reduction in performance with a bigger turbo and stock fueling. The HY35 is very responsive, and with a turnbuckle, will support 100hp injectors and an EZ box easily.
If it was my money,id be buying a MITUSA fuel system or trans/clutch mods before the above 3 parts. You want a good fuel system on the these trucks with a guage, way more important than anything else.
BTW,what mods do you already have now?

The truck is 3 months old (to me). I have heard the same regarding the manifolds and intercooler. Ill take yall word, horses mouth and all. I was just thinking along the lines of "no choke points". If I can get all the air I need without that crap, then I can afford to get a nicer turbo, pump and tranny upgrades.

But what order? I cant afford pipes, intake, tranny, turbo, injectors, pump and chip all at once, so what should I start with if I have roughly 3000?

Thanks all, pretty much why I post in here, keep my dumb **** from blowing what little cash the wife gives me!

1st. Low Pressure Fuel system most important. MITUSA/FASS/Vulcan/Walbro
2nd. Guages
3rd. Intake
4th. Exhaust
5th. Tranny Upgrades, clutch or auto
6th. Edge Comp/Tst/Smarty
7th. Turbo
8th. Injectors

IMO

Well this is the order I'm working on.

Guages
upgraded fuel system
Clutch rated for target power
upgraded exhaust
tuner and/or box
turbo/injectors

First, say what you want to accomplish with the truck. The formula is different from a nice towing vehicle to a 12 sec. drag truck.

The exhaust manifold does help, but unless yours is cracked, no need to replace it. I saw a 50 degree reduction when I replaced my manifold, and straight piped it. That is $400 better spent towards a set of sticks.

You're missing the most important parts. Gauges, fuel system upgrade, and fun. Whats the good in dropping $3k on parts, and not even noticing a difference? If you pick up a Juice, you've got gauges and fuel, for around $900 or so. Then upgrade your fuel system to keep it happy. A FASS, Walbro, Holley, or a Vulcan kit. All will help keep it happy, and allow room for growth. So now you have $1100-1500 spent, depending on what fuel system you get. If you've got an auto (should add this to your sig), I'd think the wise thing to do is spend the remainder on a TC and VB so you can get the power to the ground. Because whats the fun in having a hotter engine if it doesn't move the truck? If you've got a manual, you could upgrade your clutch at this point, although with just the Juice, I'd think it would be ok. Mine lasted with just a Drag comp on. If you want an upgraded intake, spend the $65 on a BHAF, and make a heat shield. And do the exhaust when you can/want.

I agree with Tate, do the stuff that you can feel now, you may be happy with just a Juice/Smarty and Guages and not even need all the supporting stuff.

What are your goals for the truck, in terms of a HP/torque number you want, 1/4 mile ET, and how you use it (towing, cruising around town, etc...)

Good question. Smoking ricers and having something to take to the track every now and then is my goal.

I think Ill go with-

BHAF (can I make the heat shield from fiberglass?)
Smarty
Gauges (EGT, Boost, Fuel?)
Vulcan

Danke yall

You are welcome. And I think your new approach makes more sense, as you will see an increase with the $1500 you spend, and it may be enough to not have to get a TST, sticks and turbo

You probabally will decide you want more, like most of us though
