Cheap Turbo

Anyone have a use for a cheap turbo off a 8.3 L cummins?

Less than 100 bucks. Don't know what it would support HP wise or if it is any better than a stock HX35.

Looks a lot like a HX40 but who knows, the Holset sight dose not list a QA1E. A lot of the 8.3's had HX40's but this may be something else. Did a surch for QA1E Holset and only found the one on Ebay. Might want to check with Cummins.

You can use a H1C exhaust housing on it. I believe my WH1C has an hx35 exhaust housing so you could just put a 12cm2 housing on it. That is cheap for a hybrid with a 4" exhaust outlet.

Yea that would work but in the end you are still limited bythe lasck of air flow. I suppose it's all about how much you want out of the truck.

Oh, I didn't really want this turbo for me, just posting up stuff that might be good for someone else. You all know your older turbos pretty well.

Hear is a real gem, is it a K31? Or what? I'm thinking that this might be a great bottom turbo for a stocker since it too is wastegated to keep drive pressure down.

just thought I would share an interesting tidbit lol I was over at my warehouse in a little tiny town just est of ft collins and ran across a guy who builds his own custom top fuel engines on a cnc machine (very cool) and he showed me a turbo he has. it's from a b 29 superfortress bomber. he said he might sell it or make it into a coffee table stand with a round piece of glass on top lol aparently he got it from a guy that ised it (it's only the compressor) with an electric motor to make a weed burner lol
